Nineteen of the Russian's twenty-one championships have been achieved on hard courts

A revitalized the Russian player secured his first championship for 882 days with victory over Corentin Moutet in the competition final.

The athlete, a former world number one, has endured a torrid period, winning just one match at the Grand Slams and undergoing a setback at the New York tournament.

Medvedev's inconsistency on the tennis tour - and struggles with his service game in especial - resulted in him exiting of the world's top 10 and finally parting ways with former mentor Cervara.

Presently training with his coach and Rohan Goetzke, the tennis star has gradually advanced in the past month - peaking in a tightly fought competitive win over opponent Moutet.

This marks Medvedev's initial trophy following the Italian tournament and first on a hard court from spring of 2023.

The win also signifies Medvedev has won twenty-one championships at 21 distinct events.

"It's the first time I have attended a competition with my both daughters at once, so to win a trophy is especially meaningful," stated ranked player Medvedev.

"This championship is in tribute of my younger daughter my daughter, because the initial championship I won when my first daughter her name was born was for her."

Medvedev, the former major winner, had failed in his past six finals, including in Halle in the past months.

His counter-punching play style and recurring emotional displays on the playing surface had caused observers to wonder if his skill to perform at the top level was concluded.

But the athlete has implemented adjustments in the past month, striving to come to the net and compete assertively, supported by an improved service.

The champion recovered from a disadvantage in the first set against the tricky Frenchman, winning four of the last five exchanges to take the lead.

The pair exchanged breaks in the middle set before the challenger, attempting for his maiden tour championship, took control to create a final set.

Moutet rescued 4 initial break points in a close deciding set before the Russian secured a break to fifteen to secure the win.

Appropriately, the winner clinched the title with a point at the front of the court, with his opponent failing to control a volley after two hours and 38 minutes.
