Paris Saint-Germain Defeats Marseille on Penalties to Lift French Super Cup in Kuwait.

PSG players celebrating

PSG has now won the prestigious trophy on fourteen different occasions.

The Parisian giants needed a dramatic leveler followed by a perfect penalty shootout to overcome Marseille in the Gulf and secure a record-extending fourth consecutive French Super Cup title.

The European champions seemed to be coasting towards a straightforward triumph in the showdown featuring the French league champions and the French Cup holders after Ousmane Dembele opened the scoring early on.

Yet, the southern French side struck two times in the closing moments to take a surprise advantage. Initially, the English forward scored from the spot-kick, before Willian Pacho unfortunately turned the ball into his own net for an own-goal.

In a breathtaking twist of fortune, the Portuguese striker snatched a vital leveler in the final seconds to force the contest into a penalty shootout. PSG goalkeeper Chevalier then stood as the hero, saving crucial attempts from Matt O'Riley and Hamed Traore.

In the shootout, Ramos, the midfielder, Nuno Mendes, and Desire Doue all scored with composure for Paris Saint-Germain to complete a convincing penalty win.

The record winners PSG, who faced last season's Ligue 1 second-placed team Marseille after achieving a league and cup double, have now won this competition for the 12th time in the past 13 seasons.
