Cyclone the storm is predicted to escalate to a rare category five cyclone as it veers toward the Caribbean island, delivering dangerous rapid inundation and landslides.

The hurricane, which registered wind speeds of up to 195 km/h as of 0600 Greenwich Mean Time, is presently veering northwest in the Caribbean and is projected to reach land by midweek, as reported by hurricane specialists.

Warnings of blackouts and disruption to utilities have been announced as the hurricane produces up to 76cm of rain and sea level surges as high as thirteen feet above normal levels. "Find safe refuge immediately," residents have been advised.

This hurricane is the 13th named hurricane in the current Atlantic hurricane season, which normally finishes in late autumn.

Advisories are also ongoing for areas in Haiti including the primary urban center, the neighboring country and Cuba's eastern region, where this storm is expected to bring comparable impacts by the middle portion of the coming week.

Mudslides currently triggered by the storm have caused two deaths in Haiti, according to the nation's Civil Protection agency.

This weather system is projected to move across the island nation by the middle of the week before traveling via the Antillas Mayores and emerging into the open ocean.
